Noesitherapy
Noesitherapy is a unique form of pain control based on the procedures pioneered by eminent Spanish Surgeon Dr. Angel Escudero, who has performed over 1,000 surgical procedures without anaesthetic.
The technique came about because Dr Escudero was troubled by the length of recovery time and the high occurrence of infection on a patient after surgery under chemical anaesthesia.
The name derives from the Greek word 'Noesi' meaning 'the action of thinking,' married with the word 'therapy' meaning 'healing' - Noesitherapy (Noesi is pronounced no - ee -sea) - 'healing by thinking.' |

In May 1991, the BBC screened a series of programmes about alternative medicines
and therapies called “Your Life In Their Hands”. One particular programme was entitled
simply “Angel” and it featured a millionaire Spanish surgeon called Dr Angel Escudero.
This man had perfected a technique which he called Noesitherapy, and which he used
for inducing instantaneous anaesthesia in his patients without any form of drugs
or hypnosis, but simply by talking to the patient for a couple of minutes.
The film showed a patient having surgery to correct a badly bent leg. The surgeon
made a large, deep incision and proceeded to saw, drill and hammer, removing a wedge
of bone and breaking the leg in order to correctly re-align the deformed limb. During
the entire operation, the patient was fully conscious, chatting and joking with
the doctors.
One man, a real sceptic, was told only to have saliva in his mouth and say the words
“my arm is anaesthetised”. He then plunged a large needle through his own arm with
absolutely no pain or discomfort. Dr Escudero instructed him to say, “the holes
made by the needle remain anaesthetised but the rest of my arm retains its normal
sensibilities”. Dr Escudero pinched the man’s arm about an inch from the needle
and this produced a cry of pain, but when the needle was lifted pulling the man’s
flesh he felt nothing at all.
The results of Noesitherapy are outstanding, apparently miraculous and evidently
attainable, allowing 80% of patients treated to maintain a comfortable pain free
state for as long as necessary.
The human mind is basically made up of two parts; the conscious mind and the subconscious
mind. The conscious mind takes up only 12% of the volume of the brain. It learns
by past experiences and uses them in current situations, for example if someone
told you to place your hand in a pan of boiling water, you would refuse as the conscious
mind recalls that boiling water would burn and hurt. On the other hand, the subconscious
mind is the remaining 88%. It is responsible for everything our bodies do without
having to think, such as our heart beating or breathing. It is totally unable to
reason, argue or reject. It does believe everything it is told, accepts and obeys.
The subconscious mind is only capable of doing as it is told and follows instructions
exactly to the letter.
Therefore, using Noesitherapy combined with hypnosis – Hypnoesitherapy – it is possible
to give direct instructions to the subconscious mind, with staggering results.
For hypnoesitherapy to work the client must identify a need and a wish, and the
therapist needs the belief and the desire - that is all. For example, let's say
that the client presents with lower back pain, the wishes he or she has may be for
their back to be comfortable, healthy, strong, supple and relaxed. These wishes
enable the client to instruct their sub-conscious that they need their back muscles
to be less tight, not go into spasm and to regenerate their strength.
Once this stage of the therapy is complete the notion of psychological anaesthesia
is introduced, and again, using a positive affirmation, the client tells their subconscious
mind that they wish to obtain it. Strange as it may seem the client is only then
required to say "my back is anaesthetised and comfortable", and the psychological
anaesthesia is activated. However, in saying this it may take a second or two before
the client realises that the response has taken place.
Dr. Escudero has also been featured "Carol Vorderman's Mysteries" and although he
does not directly utilize hypnosis it appears that by applying traditional hypnotic
trance to his methods (hypnoesitherapy), the potency of the therapy is increased.
Hypnoesitherapy has wide ranging applications and can be used to treat many clinical
and psychological conditions, including:
- Asthma
- Eczema
- Arthritis
- Stroke
- Blood Pressure
- Problems
- Migraine
- Sciatica
- Frozen shoulder
- Tennis elbow
- Depression
- Stress
- Anxiety
- and much more.
